Around 6 weeks ago Henry had an idea – an idea to ride to Berlin to attend GITEX EUROPE with IONOS riding an electric Ad-MOTO scooter. What better way to show off the technology ? He also thought we could raise some money to help pay for some teachers at the Nayamba school in Zambia – https://www.nayamba.org/

That was 6 weeks ago and a LOT has happened.

Henry bought a bike off Facebook! Whilst doing this he met Tim Pestridge, a professional photographer who talking to him about bikes and gave me some confidence. He is also a trustee at the Nayamba School – and he introduced him to the great things they are doing there.

Martin Allen decided he wanted to come too!

Henry and Martin passed their theory test – this was the easy part.

Henry spoke to Kim Bishop, Nadine Grobert and Tim Kartali at IONOS. We’re gold partners and will be on their stand. They have agreed to support us in lots of ways.

I was contacted by Matthew Cunliffe from GITEX EUROPE who offered to help us in any way he could.

Richard Jordan from Zenion agreed to join them on the trip, and Henry managed to to get his friend Paul to drive the van.

Friends took them out for rides – a shout out here to Sarah Brooks and Ben Lewis – both Triumph fans and great riders – every road mile was great experience for them both.

Then they had to pass our tests! They booked in at MTS Rider Training and a few weeks ago Martin and Henry completed a 5 day intensive course with their excellent instructor Andy. Then they did the important part – the tests. Then it went wrong! Martin dropped his bike on the first test (The Mod 1) and Henry stalled at a crucial part on my Mod 2 (the road test).

At that point Henry thought they had this amazing, well backed trip, but neither of them could actually do it because they hadn’t passed.

Last week that changed for Martin when he redid his Mod 1, then his Mod 2 – passing both. Today Henry redid his Mod 2 road test and passed! So they’re now both fully licensed motorbike riders!

So what next? Well they have started booking up accommodation. They still need some sponsorship – it’s a very worthy cause (Nayamba School). We’re also keen to hear from anyone who has ideas, or can offer any support.

They leave 4 weeks tomorrow – and from now on they  will be updating on a regular basis. Vicki Allen from Ashore VA is handling our company socials – keep an eye on LinkedIn.
