The DfE English Hub, used by teachers across the UK, needed rebuilding and hosting in a resilient and secure environment.

Working with the Department for Education and The Cornerstone Academy Trust  our task was to completely rebuild the English Hub, allowing schools and the DfE to share documents, videos and best practice for the teaching of English.

English hubs offer a range of support and continuing professional development (CPD) to primary schools to improve the teaching of early reading, with a particular focus on systematic synthetic phonics, early language and reading for pleasure.

This resource portal allows schools to find the most appropriate hub to support them. Once onboarded with their hub, the portal allows the schools to access a wealth of taring materials, including documents and videos. The hub can also share files directly with the schools they are supporting.

The project is a combined effort between Cornerstone Academy Trust, the DfE (Department for Education) and Exe Squared Ltd.  We have led on building some of the code which runs the site,  setting up and managing a secure and robust hosting environment, and consulting on how to best provide a robust and secure solution.
